Candlemas 2012

The Christian festival of lights.

The ancient festival of Candlemas marks the midpoint of winter, half way between the shortest day and the Spring equinox.

Year 4 celebrated it with other Year 4 children from our cluster at St Peters Church, Oundle.

We were very excited to see our friends from other schools.

Here's one we prepared earlier in our RE lesson with Mrs Stopps.

One child from each school was presented with a candle from the Bishop.

If Candlemas day be dry and fair,

The half o' winter to come and mair

If Candlemass day be wet and foul.

The half o' winter gane at Yule.
