In Owlets we have been learning that belonging to a religious group is a bit like belonging to a family.  If you belong to a religious group you all believe the same or similar things.  We began by thinking about our families and how special they are to us all but that they are all different and that is fine.  After that we thought about the different ‘families’ that we belong to – our own families, our Titchmarsh Church of England Primary School family and any clubs we are part of.  We learnt that all the religious family groups are different and have different beliefs.  To show that they are different they have different symbols. We enjoyed making symbols to represent some religions.

Some of the older children rang the church bell today to call the rest of the school for Collective Worship.  It took lots of effort but the children were determined to ring the bell.

This week we enjoyed out first clergy led Collective Worship of the year at St. Mary's church.  The Collective Worship gave us time to reflect upon the importance of saying thank you.  The whole school were joined the youngest children in the school, our new Reception class.

We look forward to our next Collective Worship with Rev. Annabel in a fortnight.

We were delighted when the Bishop of Peterborough’s office contacted the school.  Every three years the Bishop of Peterborough brings together 300 of his lay and ordained ministers for a residential conference.  The conference in November and aims to give the Ministers a chance to come together and reflect on their work and their faith.  By surrounding them with artwork from those who live and worship in their communities they can reflect on their ministry and find inspiration and direction. We were asked to provide some artwork based on the theme “What gives you hope?” and “What do you hope for?”  Our upper Key Stage 2 pupils interpreted the theme and here are some beautiful examples.

In our classes we have been writing prayers.  We took time to reflect upon all the things we are thankful for and wrote poems to thank God.
